A year ago, we ran into a problem that felt surprisingly hard to solve. We both work in front of screens all day, so after work, we try to spend less time on our phones and stay off social media. But once we stepped away from the scrolling, we started to feel out of the loop.

We have always been the couple with good date ideas. We love finding fun places, trying new spots, and making the most of the city. But without social media, it became much harder to know what was actually worth doing. And even when you do find a place, it usually does not stop there. You check Instagram, then TikTok, then Yelp, then Google Reviews, then maybe Reddit or a blog, just to figure out if it is actually good. Instead of helping, it turns into more screens, more tabs, and more time wasted.

One night, after ending up at home watching The Office again because we did not know where to go, we thought — there has to be a better way.

That was the beginning of Jondoe.

We created Jondoe to help couples like us find better things to do without wasting time scrolling through social media and bouncing between five other websites just to make one plan. We were tired of overhyped spots, paid influencer posts, and places that looked better online than they felt in real life. We wanted something more honest, more useful, and more real.

So we built a tool to help people find better date ideas, better activities, and better ways to enjoy the city. Every place featured in the app is there with intention. We care about quality, and we want Jondoe to feel trustworthy. Even if a business wants to pay to be featured, that does not mean it belongs in the app. If it is not good, it is not going in.

We do not want more screens, more scrolling, or more disappointing plans. We want less screen time, more quality time, and better experiences in the city we love.
